LaReG was founded as a landscape practice by Ruth Peschk-Hawtree in March 1977 in Hannover. The practice moved to Braunschweig in 1977. In 1992 Professor Dr. Gunnar Rehfeldt joined the practice as a partner. He is an acknowledged expert in his field of ecology and environmental science and lectures at the Technical University in Braunschweig. In 2006 a branch office of LaReG was opened in Holtland / Leer.

The Practice specialises in landscape and planning development work and provides expert opinion and evidence for the government, local authorities and commercial organisations.
The practice comprises an enthusiastic team whose members are qualified in their own disciplines of landscape development, landscape maintenance, ecology, earth sciences, biology, with support from technical personnel. The Practice has long experience in participating in multi-disciplinary exercises and projects with a wide range of engineering and architectural bureaus.

In recent years LaReG has worked mainly in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Saxony, but commissions have been received from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Thüringen, and Bavaria. Projects have ranged from pipeline laying, storage for gas in salt caves, highways and other roads, extending of airports, quarrying of sand, gravel and stone, building development areas etc.. For such projects we produce feasibility studies, regional impact studies, environmental impact assessments, landscape conservation support plans and do all work in accordance with the Fauna-Flora-Habitat-Directive.
